Review Movie Clips
In class today we review movie clips, analyze what we learn by watching the film in class.
Framing
Lighting
Camera Shots
Ratio
Here are are common shots we know :
• Extreme close-up: Focuses on a single facial feature, such
as lips and eyes.
• Close-up: May be used to show tension.
• Medium shot: Often used, but considered bad practice by
many directors, as it often denies setting establishment
and is generally less effective than the Close-up.
• Long shot has much more dramatic power on a large
theater screen, whereas the same shot would be
powerless on a small TV or computer screen.
• Establishing shot: Mainly used at a new location to give
the audience a sense of locality.
Watching the film we had to give detail on how the camera give notice to main character. How the lighting was in the film how it made the mood of the film. What color was shown in the movie. Did it gave a scene of happiness or sadness. I have learn alot movies and when i watch a movie, i really study how the camera shot the film. What angle is the camera giving and size of the subject in frame depends on two things: the distance the camera is away
from the subject and the focal length of the camera lens. Choice of shot size is also directly related to the size of the final display screen the
audience will see.
Decisions are similar to
that of a photographer and controls the film itself, the
lensing, aperture,
exposure, focus and the
distance of the shot. Cinematography is
temporal whereas
photography is captured
in the still image. This what i learn today in class.

SHOOTING
SHOOTING
Learning everything has to involve with film, knowing what it take to get a good object you trying target to the audience. Today in classs learn more about our high and low shots , we had to watch a movie and give detail on how the shots in the movie made audience feel.
Subjective Shot/Camera: from the position/point of view of a character--as if seeing through character eyes. Also called POV shot. Cinema equivalent of “First Person” in writing. • Some people make distinction between subjective shots & POV shots: use “POV shots” to include “overthe-shoulder” shots--which give a sense of POV without actually being from the position of the character. • But easier & better: treat POV and Subjective as the same; over-the-shoulder as different.
Computer Computer-generated shots: for ex: generated shots: for ex: “flybys,” “rotations.” Computers, like traditional animation, can potentially generate any movement.

Cinematograph motion picture en
Cinematography
Today we learn about cinematography which mean "writing in movement".
But the art of making motion pictures. The art of motion picture by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as film stock.
Cinematographer has the control on how the entire film look. Learning main parts of cinematographer are composition of the frame and camera distance/shot. When it comes to framing its set on how the film is angle. High angle is a frame when the camera look down on the character. When the audience watching the film in this frame, have a feel like you sitting in the sky watching down. There are other angle such straight angle, straight on , low angle. Also dutch angle that came from German term "Deutsch" which mean German. German use this film to create madness and uneasiness in a film. When comes camera distance/ shot detail a size of a shot. Giving a size of a shot that influence the meaning which an audience can Interpret. Showing the a character facial feature and tension on their face is two common shot sizes, which are extreme close-up shot and close-up shot .There are other shots as well that interpret how the camera distance from the subject and size of the final display screen the audience will see.
Learning about mobile framing when comes to zoom in and zoom out. camera movement on how the camera moves in the film.Using dolly shot and tracks they use this a lot in movie with action or movement that regular camera can not catch. Hand-held stand that camera guy actually hold they find a lot ways to capture thing that hard record in or move in.Learning the difference between mobile zooming or framing.
Which lead to group project really give me understanding on how film frame and shot can make big difference on how it look or display screen.

French term mis en scene which mean scene or frame in a movie that give a visual information that in the front of the camera, that give audience information on what they watching.

Sin City (also known as Frank Miller's Sin City)[3] is a 2005 American neo-noir crime thriller anthology film written, produced, and directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. It is based on Miller's eponymous graphic novel Sin City.[4]
Much of the film is based on the first, third and fourth books in Miller's original comic series. The Hard Goodbye is about a man who embarks on a brutal rampage in search of his one-time sweetheart's killer, killing anyone, even the police, that gets in his way of finding and killing her murderer. The Big Fat Kill focuses on an everyman getting caught in a street war between a group of prostitutes and a group of mercenaries, the police and the mob. That Yellow Bastard follows an aging police officer who protects a young woman from a grotesquely disfigured serial killer. The intro and outro of the film are based on the short story "The Customer is Always Right", which is collected in Booze, Broads & Bullets, the sixth book in the comic series.
